THE PEARLFISHERS - Catch up review

GIG: The Pearlfishers
DATE: Friday 16th January
VENUE: The Mitchell, 6 Granville Street, Charing Cross, Glasgow
COST: £16.00
OUR VERDICT: Pearl delight

The Celtic Connections music festival that is staged by Glasgow in January every year, brings musicians from all over the world into this city. The Pearlfishers do not play many gigs, so when they do, it is something special and well worth the trip north of the border to experience it.

Supported by a string ensemble which just ripped at your heart they were that good, the Pearlfishers were really on form. Back in the fold was Brian Mcalpine on keyboard. Brian was a Pearlie decades ago, and he and David both looked like they really enjoyed playing again.

The last part of the show had a wonderful choir from the local arts school, and we think there were 20 people on stage at one point.

As always, well worth the trip to Glasgow to see the Pearlfishers.
