MANIC STREET PREACHERS - Catch Up Review

GIG: The Manic Street Preachers
DATE: Monday 15th and Tuesday 16th December 2014
VENUE: The Roundhouse, Camden, London
COST: £35.00 plus a modest £3.25 booking fee
OUR VERDICT: MANIC!!!

The Roundhouse was absolutely heaving, a total sell out on all three nights The Manic Street Preachers were appearing. We had tickets to two of these nights.

The first half was the complete “The Holy Bible” album, start to finish, no interruptions. The second half was a selection of their hits. This is no short list and it must have been a difficult choice as what was in and what was not! Over the two nights, the set list was very similar with just a couple of songs switched in and out.

Apparently, on the second night, Nicky had left his make up in the hotel. So while a roadie went to fetch it, James did an acoustic version of "Anthem For a Lost Cause" to fill time before the second half started.

Both nights featured, "Motorcycle Emptiness", "You Stole The Sun From My Heart" and "If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next", as well as various album tracks. The high energy encore featured "You Love Us" and "Design For Life"...with a taste of Wham's "Last Christmas" thrown in for good measure.

It's rare to see a stadium band like this in a venue like the Roundhouse. This made the gig that bit more special.
